Goal setting and data collection in education has many advantages however it is often a lengthy process, particularly for students who have highly individualised programs. This can mean that the multitude of advantages of goal setting and data collection are not always accessed. In addition to this is an increased need for effective and efficient data collection due to initiatives such as the Nationally Consistent Collection of Data. One of the hallmark features of Applied Behaviour Analysis is the utilisation of data. Gathering data to inform interventions as well as capture and report on outcomes is a core feature of any ABA based support. From a behaviour analytic perspective, this workshop will provide:
- Strategies for simplifying SMART goal setting.
- Ways of breaking skills down to make goals achievable.
- Data collection procedures to allow for timely, data-based reporting of student progress.
Teachers will be given the opportunity to apply the strategies provided in the workshop to their own students’ goals. Practical, ready to use resources to facilitate ongoing use of the strategies will be provided.
There are currently no Goal Setting and Data Collection workshops planned.
